Publications and related material, 1826-1986.

Most of the collection is comprised of the publications produced by the Academy. These include the ANNALS, which are the primary publication of the Academy and contain articles by numerous members and the proceedings of major conferences including relevant discussion. Many early articles focused on natural history and described new species; more current volumes are biomedically oriented. TRANSACTIONS, issued from 1881-1897 and 1938-1971, contain scientific proceedings of the Academy meetings. Specialized studies include SCIENTIFIC SURVEY OF PORTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS, 1919-1949. Collection also includes a limited number of manuscripts written for the ANNALS, 1854-1931, and correspondence with the editor, secretary, and recording secretary regarding publication of the TRANSACTIONS and ANNALS, and scientific papers accepted, rejected, or published elsewhere. Some manuscripts are included.
